Design

The design team is involved during the entire life of the bridge, from beginning to end. Members will apply their creativity and structural analysis skills to conjure up a bridge design — one that is easy to build yet able to withstand a hefty load of 2,500 pounds. Our design will also work within the confines of the particular rules provided yearly by AISC. If you wish to see your ideas brought to life in the form of an award-winning bridge, consider joining the design team!

Fabrication

The fabrication team is all about bridging the gap between design and reality. Through hands-on work with steel, welding, and assembly, members develop essential skills, from problem-solving to teamwork, preparing you for real-world challenges. In the fall semester, we'll master various fabrication techniques as a foundation for constructing the greatest bridge of all time. In the spring, we will compete against schools all across the southeast region. Are you up for the challenge?

Build

The build team is the only tryout-based team that we have. This team begins to meet in the middle of the fall semester, with the team finalized by winter break. On competition day, a team of 3-6 members will be challenged to assemble the bridge in a timed environment, while following the rules that are set by ASCE. Armed with nuts, bolts, and power tools, these members must construct the bridge as efficiently as possible to achieve a national's worthy score.
